Please bring back Stocks

I bought Soulver 3 to support development, but I still use version 2 daily for the Stocks functionality (even though it's buggy).
In version 2 (with a bit of persistence) I can get the stock numbers that refuse to update - to eventually update by removing and adding the entries. It's a pain in the butt, but it's worth the hassle.
I would absolutely love to see the feature and functionality brought back - even if I have to single-handedly pay your stock metadata aggregator to make it worthwhile.
I just miss being able to write things like AAPL x 50 etc.
Thanks!
Lorenzo
Hi, I noticed some tech stocks look up correctly like MSFT, AMZN, NFLX. However most stock symbols I tried don't return anything...
Wolfram alpha supports stock price lookups - However, if I try to form a wolfram query such as "MSFT price is = ?" I get "no answer available".
Am I missing something? Would it be possible to get stock prices working with Wolfram?
Edit: I see the Stocks section in the settings now :) Never mind!
Zac @ Soulver
Lorenzo: Wolfram|Alpha does not offer financial instrument data via its API, unfortunately. They have their own licensing arrangement with their financial data providers that prohibit this.

Soulver Stocks is a new subscription service available in the App Store version of Soulver. It grants you access to 160k+ stocks across 60 exchanges worldwide, in addition to the 8 tech stocks built into Soulver. We're only offering this additional service via the App Store version, so that it will also be available to subscribers in the upcoming iPad version of Soulver 3.

Zac @ Soulver: Fantastic. More than happy to pay the yearly subscription fee to support this feature. So great to have it back with a very slick implementation. Cheers Zac.
Zac @ Soulver
Colin Bennett: Cheers!

Zac @ Soulver: Any plans to offer this for the standalone version? Also what is your strategy for app store vs standalone, given that the website does not link to the app store it seems odd to offer more features in that version?
btw: great updates!
Zac @ Soulver
Espen: I'm focusing on building out the new iOS versions at the moment (rather putting time into building custom cross-platform subscription infrastructure that could work outside the App Store too). I have no plans to drop the direct version of Soulver - it's great. My feeling is that extra services like stocks are fairly niche features, & not something most Soulver users need. It's great to have a way to offer it to the people who really need it though (through the App Store).

I totally support that! It is a powerful tool. Any external data source that can be embedded into Solver as a parameter is a powerful enhancer

Hi Zac. It's cruising towards a year since you mentioned stocks were planned. I'm still persevering with a very crash-prone Soulver 2. It'd be awesome if you could possibly bump this up your priority list as I'm starting to regret recommending the app to my colleagues and friends. I feel bad for mentioning this, but I'm starting to lose hope. Fingers crossed.
Zac @ Soulver
Colin Bennett: There are generally better (more specialised) tools for working with stocks than Soulver, so I wouldn't encourage you to recommend it to your friends for this in particular. That said, I'd still love to bring stocks to Soulver 3. Bringing Soulver 3 to iOS is currently more important for the business though. By the way, Soulver 2 is still a supported product - it should not be crashing. Please send me a crash report and description of the steps when this happens.

Zac @ Soulver: Thanks for the reply Zac. Soulver works the way I think, so I love to do my budgeting and savings projections in the app. Sure, there's other apps that do this kinda thing, but (as you know), nothing does notes and math quite like Soulver.
I'm going to keep clinging on in the hope that Soulver 3 magically reintroduces the feature in the near future. I'm sure it's further down your todo list, but if you can squeeze it in soon I'd very much appreciate it.
Soulver 2 doesn't crash. It's just hit or miss whether the app pulls the latest stock quotes. It often only updates the first 5-6 stock entries. I then have to delete and manually re-add other stocks to get the latest price to show. Even then it's hit or miss whether the amount will update. I have a sneaky suspicion that your stock aggregator is only allowing X connections/updates before times out. If you can increase the connections in the back-end that could be a good temporary fix for my frustrations with v2.
Anyhoo. Fingers continually crossed with v3. Thanks!
